UK Confirms It Won’t Join US Blockade of Strait of Hormuz
A UK government spokesperson emphasized the country’s commitment to supporting "freedom of navigation" through the Strait, which plays a critical role in global trade and the economic stability of nations, including the UK. "The Strait of Hormuz must not be subject to tolling," the official stated, reinforcing the need to keep the passage open for international shipping.
The spokesperson also highlighted that the UK is "urgently working" with France and other international partners to build a broader coalition aimed at ensuring the free movement of vessels through the strategic waterway. Earlier, Trump had mentioned that the UK would contribute by sending minesweepers to assist in clearing the strait, though the UK’s position on the blockade remains separate from the US strategy.
